Mechanical Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our engineering team responsible for the upkeep of a large, complex estate in Dorset. You will work on a variety of mechanical building services, ensuring reliability and compliance with health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services systems.
• Diagnose faults and repair a wide range of plant and equipment.
• Maintain heating, ventilation, plumbing and associated mechanical systems.
• Support installation and minor works projects across the estate.
• Ensure all work complies with legislation, technical standards and health & safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Participate in the on‑call rota and respond to emergency maintenance issues.
• Liaise with contractors, colleagues and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality service.

Required profile

• HNC in Building Services, City & Guilds or equivalent technical qualification.
• Significant experience in a complex building services or engineering environment.
• Strong fault‑finding, maintenance and repair skills across mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of current building services legislation, standards and best practice.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Competent Person, Responsible Person or Authorised Person status in a relevant discipline.
• Experience with heating, ventilation, water, confined spaces, medical gases, LV or HV systems.

What we offer

• £24‑27 per hour (umbrella)
• 37.5 hours per week
• 3‑month rolling contract
• On‑call rota and emergency response duties
