Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Winch Assembly

About the role
As a Mechanical Technician you will be the subject‑matter expert for the safe, precise assembly and testing of K‑Winch products, including diesel‑ and electrically‑driven winches and masts. You will ensure high‑quality output, address production issues, and promote safe, efficient use of hand and power tools while driving assembly improvements and collaborating with engineering.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble equipment accurately using blueprints, diagrams and written procedures.
- Manufacture and maintain hydraulic systems, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Detect and report material or product defects and equipment faults.
- Support on‑time delivery and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organised work environment following 5S and LEAN principles.
- Assist with introduction of new techniques and machinery.
- Mentor and train colleagues as needed.
- Drive and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings and provide constructive input.
- Perform quality control and functional testing (FAT) of K‑Winch products.
- Submit engineering feedback to support design enhancement.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety policies and intervene in unsafe practices.
- Undertake other duties to support business operations and attend ongoing training.
Required profile
- Time‑served mechanical apprenticeship.
- NC in a relevant subject.
- Experience in a mechanical‑based profession.
- Familiarity with assembly and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Desirable: higher education in a relevant field, forklift and overhead crane certification.
