Mechanical Service Engineer – Hydraulic Systems

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Service Engineer to join a well‑established engineering team in Taunton. The role focuses on hydraulic engineering activities, supporting a variety of projects across marine, defence, aerospace, nuclear, utilities and industrial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and deliver effective solutions on hydraulic systems and equipment.
• Manufacture, assemble and test hydraulic pipework and hose assemblies to customer specifications.
• Conduct inspections, surveys and assessments of hydraulic components.
• Strip‑down, repair, overhaul and re‑assemble hydraulic systems.
• Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs and maintenance work.
• Collaborate with colleagues and customers to ensure high‑quality engineering outcomes.

Required profile

• Mechanical, hydraulic or vehicle engineering background.
• Hands‑on fault‑finding and repair experience on engineering equipment.
• Positive, can‑do attitude with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Eagerness to learn new skills and work within a collaborative team.
