Mechanical Supervisor – HVAC & Refrigeration

About the role

Are you an experienced Mechanical & HVAC specialist looking for a key technical role within a landmark commercial development in Central London? We are seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to act as the primary technical authority for all mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems across a high‑profile corporate estate.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the operation and maintenance of business‑critical HVAC plant, chillers, VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, FCUs, LTHW boilers, pumps and water services.
• Take full accountability for F‑Gas compliance, maintaining accurate logbooks, leak checks and refrigerant recovery registers.
• Coordinate and oversee specialist subcontractors for hard services, annual maintenance, statutory inspections and reactive call‑outs, ensuring work quality and scope completion.
• Author, review and challenge site‑specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and manage the Permit to Work system for high‑risk mechanical tasks.
• Maintain physical and digital compliance logbooks (F‑Gas, PSSR, ACoP L8, mechanical statutory testing) and produce technical reports, asset deficiency logs and incident analyses.

Required profile

• Refrigeration & Cooling Ticket: City & Guilds 2079 F‑Gas Category 1 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (mandatory).
• Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Heating & Ventilation or Building Services (mandatory).
• Proven track record as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Lead or Mechanical Supervisor on high‑spec commercial office estates.
• In‑depth knowledge of statutory building regulations, F‑Gas legislation, PSSR and SFG20 maintenance standards.
