Mechanical Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing environment in Chester. The role focuses on the assembly and integration of advanced automated and process systems, requiring hands‑on work with precision mechanical components.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical assembly and integration on complex automated and process equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, mechanical blueprints and assembly documentation.
• Prepare materials, components, tools and equipment before assembly.
• Assemble, adjust, align and position mechanical components to required specifications and tolerances.
• Use precision measurement and metrology equipment, including laser trackers and interferometry systems, to verify dimensions, alignment and positional accuracy.
• Measure straightness, positioning, angularity and alignment, and perform mechanical adjustments to achieve required performance.
• Tighten bolted joints according to technical procedures.
• Work with mechanical, pneumatic and, where required, electrical systems as part of equipment integration.
• Identify and report technical issues affecting assembly, quality or delivery.
• Record assembly progress, issues and measurements accurately.
• Follow company quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, applying 5S and continuous‑improvement principles.

Required profile

• Experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembly Technician, Precision Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Technician, Machine Assembly Technician, Mechanical Integration Technician or Metrology Technician.
• Proven ability to work with precision mechanical assemblies, engineering drawings and high‑accuracy measurement equipment.
• Hands‑on experience with breakdown, repairs and troubleshooting of complex machinery.
