Mechanical Technician – Transport & Plant Maintenance

About the role

We are supporting a Dover‑based client who need a skilled Mechanical Technician to join their Engineering Maintenance team. This hands‑on position ensures a wide range of transport and plant assets are maintained, repaired, and kept operating safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, repair and improvement work across a broad range of site assets.
• Diagnose faults on complex equipment and implement effective solutions.
• Deliver both planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Complete inspection reports and maintenance documentation (manual or electronic).
• Conduct statutory inspections and report findings.
• Work closely with colleagues to identify recurring faults and recommend improvements.
• Ensure all work complies with health & safety standards and risk assessments.
• Act as lead/coordinator on smaller projects when required.
• Support and mentor colleagues and apprentices.

Required profile

• Apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline (minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• At least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Experience with HGV, heavy plant and mobile hydraulic systems.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience reviewing and creating RAMS.
• Good IT literacy and full UK driving licence.
• Welding/fabrication experience (desirable).
