Media Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Media Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision school in Bromley‑by‑Bow. The role supports students aged 11‑18 with SEMH needs, helping them develop practical media, photography, film and digital editing skills in a nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers during media lessons and practical projects.
• Encourage student engagement with photography, video production and digital media.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to reinforce learning.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation throughout the school day.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils who require additional encouragement.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs.
• Background in Alternative Provision, PRU or SEN settings is highly desirable.
• Passion for media, photography, film or digital content creation.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and behaviour management abilities.
