About the role

The Medical Secretary provides essential administrative support to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams within NHS Scotland, ensuring smooth operation of patient‑focused services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical secretarial and administrative support to clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Cover for secretarial team members during annual leave or sickness.
• Work closely with Parkinson Nurses to ensure accurate documentation and coordination of care.
• Manage correspondence, schedule appointments, and maintain patient records in line with NHS standards.

Required profile

• Experience in medical or healthcare administration.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure while maintaining confidentiality.
• Commitment to NHS values of equality, diversity and patient‑centred care.

Required skills

• Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Familiarity with NHS clinical information systems is desirable.
