Member of Technical Staff – Post-Training

About the role

Cohere is a security‑first enterprise AI company building cutting‑edge foundation models and end‑to‑end products for real‑world business problems. As a Member of Technical Staff you will advance the state of the art for model post‑training, ship state‑of‑the‑art models to production and bridge research and production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance, scalable software for training large models.
• Consistently post‑train models to achieve state‑of‑the‑art performance.
• Collaborate with specialist teams (Agentic, Code, etc.) to deliver models with strong overall performance.
• Develop techniques to improve training cycles in both supervised fine‑tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning (RL) regimes.
• Research, implement, and experiment on Cohere’s super‑compute and data infrastructure.

Required profile

• Extremely strong software engineering skills.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as JAX, PyTorch and XLA/MLIR.
• Experience with distributed training infrastructures (Kubernetes, Slurm) and frameworks like Ray.
• Hands‑on experience training large models at scale and optimizing post‑training performance.
