Member of Technical Staff – RL Environments

About the role

Building AI agents that can assist with enterprise work requires realistic reinforcement learning (RL) environments. As a Member of Technical Staff – RL Environments you will create these environments, run agents within them, and iteratively improve both.

Key responsibilities

• Build new RL environments targeting different agentic capabilities and industry areas.
• Train and evaluate agents in those environments.
• Integrate tasks, data, tool implementations, and verifiers to make the environments functional.
• Collaborate with modeling and product teams to identify performance gaps and enhance agents and environments.
• Work with external vendors to develop high‑quality, expert‑built RL environments and ensure data and verifier quality.
• Automate discovery of model capability gaps and systematically measure agent performance during evaluation and training.

Required profile

• Experience engineering agents and optimizing them for specific industry use cases.
• Extensive work reviewing agent trajectories to pinpoint failures and improve them via model training or engineering.
• Strong focus on measuring agent capabilities and turning insights into repeatable processes.
• Background designing verifiers, reward structures, and annotation workflows to assess agent performance and data quality.
• Experience building synthetic data pipelines to scale evaluation and training efforts.
• Use of agents in daily work with demonstrable productivity improvements.
