Mental Health Assistant – Support Children with SEMH

About the role
We are looking for a Mental Health Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Bracknell. The role supports pupils aged 4‑11 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, working alongside experienced SENCOs and teaching staff. This full‑time, onsite position offers hands‑on experience in a supportive educational environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide academic, emotional and behavioural support to children with SEMH and other special educational needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with SENCOs, external professionals and parents to develop and implement individual support plans.
- Monitor and record pupils’ progress and wellbeing, reporting concerns as needed.
- Promote a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic, caring and resilient individuals with a genuine interest in child mental health.
- Graduates in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or related fields (preferred but not essential).
- Patience, empathy and the ability to work with young children.
- Previous experience with children is desirable but not mandatory.
