Mental Health Pharmacist – Band 6/7 Progression

About the role

Join a leading NHS pharmacy team delivering high‑quality mental health care across Central and North West London. As a Band 6 Pharmacist you will provide medicines optimisation services and have a clear pathway to progress to a Band 7 role, supporting specialist mental health, eating disorder and adolescent services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive medicines optimisation for in‑patient mental health, eating disorder and rehabilitation services.
• Provide medicines reconciliation, discharge counselling and clinical pharmacy input alongside Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technicians.
• Deputise for other pharmacists and act as a Practice Supervisor for pre‑registration and junior pharmacists.
• Contribute to local and Trust‑wide policies on medication use under the guidance of the Advanced Specialist Pharmacist.
• Develop clinical knowledge through the Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice and pursue postgraduate prescribing and leadership qualifications.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist eligible to practice in the UK.
• Experience in mental health or acute hospital pharmacy settings is desirable.
• Motivation to progress to Band 7 and undertake advanced training.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Medicines optimisation and clinical pharmacy practice.
• Knowledge of mental health pharmacotherapy.
• Prescribing qualification (or willingness to obtain).
