Mental Health Support Practitioner

About the role

New Start is seeking a Mental Health Support Practitioner to join its Adults Services Team in Liverpool. In this full‑time, permanent position you will provide practical and emotional assistance to vulnerable adults, helping them achieve greater independence and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one support to residents and outreach visits to adults in their own homes.
• Assist individuals with daily living tasks, tenancy management and development of life‑skills.
• Facilitate activities that promote education, social inclusion, emotional resilience, physical health and positive mental wellbeing.
• Support medication management, engagement with services and progress towards independence.
• Maintain safe building environments, respond to incidents and complete required reporting and records.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting clients with mental health issues.
• Strong communication skills, calm and patient demeanor.
• Experience working with vulnerable adults, especially those at risk of homelessness.
• Ability to conduct casework, support planning and risk assessments.
• Willingness to collaborate with voluntary and statutory agencies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of mental health support practices.
• Experience in crisis intervention and outreach work.
• Understanding of tenancy and independent living support.

• Competitive salary of £26,227.50 per year plus £50 per sleep.
