Mental Health Support Team Manager (Band 7)

About the role

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified mental health professional to lead its Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) for children and young people across Greater Manchester. This senior Band 7 position offers the chance to shape service delivery in schools, community settings and partner organisations while supporting staff development and high‑quality, evidence‑based care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary MHST delivering assessments, risk management and care planning for children, young people and families.
• Ensure robust record‑keeping, data quality and compliance with safeguarding and equality standards.
• Manage caseloads, coordinate referrals and organise regular team meetings.
• Provide clinical and line‑management supervision, drive recruitment, performance management and professional development.
• Develop partnerships with schools, local authorities and community stakeholders to improve integrated support.
• Contribute to service improvement, audits, outcome monitoring and alignment with national and local priorities.

Required profile

• Qualified mental health professional (e.g., qualified mental health nurse, psychologist, or therapist).
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams working with children and young people.
• Strong understanding of NHS mental health services, safeguarding and equality legislation.
• Ability to develop services, manage change and foster collaborative relationships.
