Mental Health Support Worker – Children & Young People

About the role

We are seeking compassionate Mental Health Support Workers to provide 1:1 support for children and young people (under 18) with learning disabilities and autism in the Carlisle area. The role offers flexible, rewarding work that includes mentorship and vital respite for families.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 support and mentorship to service users.
• Facilitate social activities and community engagement to build confidence.
• Cover day and night shifts, including long‑day and sleep‑in packages.
• Manage caseloads of 1‑3 service users per shift.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
• Minimum 6 months experience in a UK residential home for children’s services.
• Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the update service.
• Valid mandatory training certificates and professional references from the past 3 years.
• Unrestricted right to work in the UK (no sponsorship).
• Commitment to a minimum of 36.5 hours per week (approximately 3 shifts).
