Mental Health Support Worker – Youth (11‑17)

About the role

Paragon Social Care is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join its specialist youth team. You will become a trusted adult for a young person aged 11‑17, providing daily emotional safety, building resilience, and supporting them through challenging moments.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily living routines and encourage engagement in activities that promote stability and wellbeing.
• Plan and participate in social outings and recreational events.
• Deliver therapeutic support using trauma‑informed, grounding and emotional regulation techniques.
• Prioritise the young person’s safety at all times.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, interventions and communications in line with safeguarding policies.
• Attend regular supervision, reflective practice and mandatory training.
• Transport the young person to appointments, activities or education as required.
• Liaise with external professionals such as CAMHS, social workers and emergency services to ensure coordinated care.

Required profile

• Empathetic, resilient and proactive with a genuine desire to support vulnerable youth.
• Ability to remain calm and patient during crises.
• Strong communication skills and the capacity to build trusting relationships.
• Commitment to working flexible 12‑hour shifts, including days and nights.

Required skills

• Knowledge of trauma‑informed care and emotional regulation strategies.

• Competitive PAYE rate of £17.50‑£24.00 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay.
