Mental Health Teaching Assistant (Maidenhead)

About the role
This full‑time position supports pupils aged 4‑16 with social, emotional and mental health needs in a specialist school. You will work alongside the class teacher to deliver tailored learning experiences and therapeutic support, helping children achieve academic and personal milestones.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to students with mental health and learning difficulties.
- Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, classroom management and maintaining a tidy learning environment.
- Support pupils in reading, phonics practice and other curriculum activities.
- Monitor progress towards age‑appropriate milestones and report observations.
- Adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of each child.
Required profile
- Calm, compassionate and confident demeanor.
- Ability to take initiative and adapt approaches quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a bubbly personality.
- Interest in psychology, education or related fields; suitable for recent graduates.
Required skills
- None specific technical skills required.
