Mentor – Flexible Part‑time Support for Vulnerable Youth

About the role

We are seeking compassionate mentors to provide one‑to‑one support for vulnerable children and young people in Winchester and surrounding Hampshire areas. The role focuses on building confidence, emotional wellbeing and engagement rather than purely academic outcomes, offering a flexible part‑time schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 mentoring sessions to learners unable to access mainstream education.
• Build trusting relationships and support emotional wellbeing.
• Encourage participation in daily routines and learning activities.
• Adapt approaches to meet individual needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety, and EHCP requirements.
• Collaborate with local authorities and maintain accurate records of progress.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience in an educational or youth‑support setting (teaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, etc.).
• Ability to establish positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, resilient and adaptable attitude.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Driver’s licence preferred or willingness to travel locally.
