Merchandiser – Retail & E‑commerce

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Merchandiser to join our client’s team in Gloucester. Working closely with product, design and cross‑functional partners, you will drive category planning, forecasting and trading to meet commercial objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop category, assortment and stock plans using historical data, market trends and business goals.
• Manage sales, stock, intake and Open‑to‑Buy plans to achieve targets.
• Produce detailed analysis and trading insights for future planning.
• Monitor and re‑forecast performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Optimise stock availability across core and best‑selling ranges.
• Oversee promotional and markdown activity to maximise sales and margin.
• Coordinate purchase order management and intake planning.
• Collaborate with finance to align stock commitments with cash flow.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, logistics providers and operational teams.
• Support and develop junior merchandising team members and deputise senior leadership as needed.

Required profile

• Previous merchandising experience in retail, e‑commerce or consumer goods.
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational abilities.
• Proven ability to manage and develop junior staff.
• Commercial awareness, preferably with premium or luxury retail exposure.
• Proactive, innovative mindset with a willingness to contribute new ideas.

What we offer

• Competitive salary between £45,000 and £50,000 per year, dependent on experience.
