Meter Reader – Out of Hours

About the role
We are looking for reliable Meter Readers to join United Utilities’ field operations team across the North West. Working out‑of‑hours, you will travel to customers’ homes and businesses to record electricity, gas or water meter readings, ensuring accurate billing and supporting customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Visit assigned properties within your designated area and collect meter readings.
- Enter readings and any additional information into the mobile system.
- Validate data and flag any anomalies for follow‑up.
- Complete all tasks within the agreed time‑frames and operating window (12:00 pm‑8:00 pm).
- Plan and organise your own working schedule, starting each day from your home address.
Required profile
- Full UK driving licence (mandatory).
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily route.
- Good numeracy and attention to detail.
Required skills
What we offer
- Hourly rate of £13.84.
- 37 hours per week, flexible out‑of‑hours shift (12 pm‑8 pm).
- Temporary contract for 6 months with the possibility of permanent employment.
- Support from Reed Talent Solutions and United Utilities.
