Methods Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Methods Engineer to join a leading national construction business at its Swindon depot. The role focuses on analysing tender documents, developing technical proposals and supporting the delivery of underground construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse tender documents, specifications and related technical data.
• Prepare technical proposals, work plans, risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with project management and business development teams to ensure client compliance.
• Develop detailed project schedules, resource plans and budgeting forecasts.
• Identify technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.
• Assist in formulating project execution plans for underground works.
• Coordinate with geotechnical engineers, construction managers and subcontractors.
• Provide technical support during pre‑bid meetings and client presentations.
• Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders throughout the tendering process.
• Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial bid documents and keep accurate records.

Required profile

• Sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques.
• Awareness of relevant procurement legislation.
• Commercial awareness of different contract forms.
• Understanding of governance and procedural requirements for winning work.

• Salary £50,000‑£65,000 per year plus a £5,750 car allowance.
