Metrology Inspector (CMM)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Metrology Inspector to join our precision manufacturing team in Ampthill. The role focuses on programming, editing and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to verify high‑volume components, as well as performing manual inspections with precision tools.

Key responsibilities

• Program, edit and operate CMMs to conduct dimensional inspections of manufactured parts.
• Carry out manual measurements using verniers, micrometers, gauges and other precision equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements accurately.
• Generate inspection reports and maintain quality records.
• Identify, document and manage non‑conforming products in line with quality procedures.
• Support root‑cause investigations and develop measurement solutions for new or complex components.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in CMM programming, editing and operation.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to read engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
