Midday Supervisor for SEN Schools (Southampton)

About the role

The Midday Supervisor role supports pupils in specialist SEN schools across Southampton during the lunch period. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment for children aged 2‑19 with complex learning, physical, sensory and medical needs. This part‑time, term‑time position offers the chance to make a direct impact on pupils’ wellbeing and enjoyment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise pupils during lunch and indoor/outdoor play, ensuring safety and engagement.
• Provide personal care and support feeding routines, including use of adapted utensils and drinking aids.
• Encourage positive communication, social interaction and independence.
• Maintain a calm, structured lunchtime environment in line with school policies.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to meet a wide range of complex needs.

• Confidence working with pupils who have autism, physical disabilities, sensory integration difficulties, medical conditions, and emotional or mental health needs.

Required skills

• Ability to support pupils with personal care and feeding routines.
• Experience or willingness to work with adapted equipment such as specialised cutlery and drinking aids.
