MIG Welder / Fabricator – Temp-to-Perm (Buntingford)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled MIG Welder / Fabricator to join a busy fabrication team on a temp-to-perm basis in Buntingford. The role works a standard 40-hour week, rotating between early (7:30-16:00) and late (13:00-22:00) shifts every two weeks, with overtime paid at time-and-a-half.

Key responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding to produce high-quality components, handling material thicknesses from 1 mm to 12 mm.
• Carry out stud welding as required.
• Execute fabrication tasks such as assembly, grinding, tack welding and finishing.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Inspect work to ensure dimensional and quality tolerances, performing basic repairs when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe working area and follow health-and-safety procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in MIG welding within a metal-fabrication environment.
• Hands-on experience with stud welding.
• Ability to work accurately on material thicknesses from 1 mm to 12 mm.
• Strong fabrication skills, including metal assembly and finishing.
• Reliability, punctuality and commitment to the rotating shift pattern.
• Willingness to join on a temp-to-perm contract.
