Migration Architect

About the role

Version 1 Solutions Limited is seeking a Migration Architect to lead AWS infrastructure and application migration waves from design through execution. The role involves discovery, design, and delivery of migration solutions that align with programme objectives and ensure robust, secure cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design of AWS migration solutions for both infrastructure and applications.
• Conduct discovery exercises using AWS Application Discovery Service, AWS Migration Hub and other tools to assess current environments, dependencies and risks.
• Translate discovery findings into migration designs, wave plans and select appropriate strategies (rehost, replatform, refactor).
• Design target‑state AWS architectures covering compute, storage, networking and security.
• Collaborate with delivery and project managers to align technical approaches with programme timelines.
• Support execution of migration waves using AWS MGN, DMS or Application Migration Service and resolve technical issues.
• Produce architecture documentation and design artefacts for governance and sign‑off.
• Ensure designs meet organisational policies and AWS Well‑Architected requirements.

Required profile

• Proven track record delivering AWS migration waves from design through execution.
• Strong experience with AWS infrastructure components such as VPC, EC2, networking and storage services.
• Ability to run discovery activities and translate findings into actionable migration plans.
• Excellent communication skills to work with security, change and transition teams.
