Mobile Cook Manager – Part‑time (Term Time)

About the role

As a Mobile Cook Manager you will travel across primary and secondary schools in North Stevenage, Letchworth, Cambridge and surrounding areas, delivering fresh, nutritious meals during term time. You will lead kitchen teams, ensure the highest standards of food safety and create a positive dining experience for pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to schools as required and provide on‑site kitchen support.
• Lead and manage day‑to‑day kitchen operations, preparing fresh meals.
• Oversee stock control, ordering and budget management.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and health & safety regulations.
• Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control.
• Manage allergen awareness and cater for special dietary requirements.
• Maintain accurate records such as HACCP logs, temperature checks and audits.
• Build positive relationships with staff, students and the wider school community.
• Inspire, develop and motivate the kitchen team.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (required).
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 (highly desirable).
• Passion for delivering fresh, nutritious meals.
• Proven leadership experience in a kitchen or catering environment.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens and school food standards.
• Proactive, flexible and able to work in a fast‑paced setting.
