Mobile HGV Technician

About the role

Our client, a market‑leading UK engineering business specialising in specialist commercial vehicles, is seeking an experienced Mobile HGV Technician. Working from home in a fully equipped service vehicle, you will service, maintain and repair a modern fleet of specialist HGVs across the Carlisle region.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on specialist HGVs.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns and complete repairs to minimise customer downtime.
• Complete all service documentation electronically via a company tablet.
• Maintain professional customer relationships and represent the business on‑site.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams.
• Support increased seasonal demand, particularly during winter months.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience maintaining and repairing HGVs or PSVs.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Experience working in a mobile service role (desirable).
• Familiarity with leading commercial vehicle brands such as Mercedes or DAF (advantageous).
• HGV Class 2 licence or willingness to obtain one.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Flexibility to support seasonal call‑outs.
