Mobile Mechanical Engineer

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a well‑established facilities management and engineering team. The role is mobile, covering Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas, and involves maintaining a diverse portfolio of critical assets and infrastructure while providing technical support and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and associated plant across multiple sites.
• Support delivery of planned and reactive maintenance activities and produce/review RAMS.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Carry out compliance audits, site inspections and supervise skilled personnel.
• Support project works, upgrades and lifecycle replacement programmes.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and sustainability of mechanical assets.
• Investigate faults, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota as required.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong experience maintaining commercial or industrial mechanical building services.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple sites and projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
