Mobile School Catering Assistant (Part‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Mobile School Catering Assistant to travel between primary and secondary schools in Potters Bar and surrounding areas. You will support the delivery of nutritious meals, uphold the highest standards of food safety and contribute to a safe environment for children.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to assigned schools and provide on‑site catering support.
• Prepare, cook and serve meals to pupils.
• Maintain food handling and hygiene standards in line with regulations.
• Follow health and safety procedures and safeguard children at all times.
• Receive, check and organise supplier deliveries.
• Carry out washing‑up duties and keep kitchen and dining areas clean.
• Represent HCL’s values and ensure a professional appearance.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certification (preferred).
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
• Knowledge of key allergens (preferred).
• Team‑player with reliable punctuality.
• Motivation to grow and develop within the catering sector.

Required skills

• Food preparation and cooking.
• Food hygiene and safety awareness.
• Allergen awareness.
• Valid full driving licence with business insurance, MOT and road tax.

What we offer

• £12.71 per hour (£9,088 per annum) plus 45p per mile mileage reimbursement.
• 16.25 hours per week, term‑time only – no weekends or late nights.
