Mobile School Cook Manager

About the role

Join HCL as a Mobile School Cook Manager and lead kitchen operations across primary and secondary schools in the West Midlands. You will be hands‑on, ensuring fresh, nutritious meals are prepared safely while supporting safeguarding priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to schools as required to oversee daily kitchen activities.
• Prepare and deliver balanced meals that meet nutritional standards.
• Manage stock, ordering, and budgets, ensuring cost‑effective operations.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, portion sizes and allergen control.
• Keep accurate records such as HACCP logs, temperature checks and audit reports.
• Build positive relationships with staff, pupils and the wider school community.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate (mandatory).
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 (desirable).
• Proven leadership experience in a catering or school food environment.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.

What we offer

• £15.85 per hour (£19,178 annual) – 27.5 hrs/week, term‑time only.
