Mobile Service Engineer – Caterham

About the role

The Mobile Service Engineer will be based in Caterham and will travel to customer sites to service, inspect and repair a range of distribution tractors, Ro‑Ro tractors, sea‑port equipment and aircraft ground support equipment. You will work independently while adhering to all health and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, visual and operational checks, and detailed inspections of equipment.
• Diagnose faults using technical manuals and diagnostic test equipment.
• Repair or replace worn, dirty or maladjusted parts on a variety of machines.
• Produce accurate reports on accident‑damaged machines to facilitate repairs.
• Obtain customer sign‑off and purchase order confirmation for completed work.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of parts used and carried.
• Follow manufacturer instructions and the company’s Safe System of Work procedures.
• Attend required training courses and keep company equipment clean and secure.

Required profile

• Ability to work without direct supervision while following health and safety policies.
• Strong attention to detail for inspections and reporting.
• Good communication skills to liaise with customers and obtain approvals.
• Willingness to travel to various customer sites in the South East England region.

Required skills

• Mechanical inspection and troubleshooting of distribution tractors, Ro‑Ro tractors, sea‑port equipment and aircraft GSE.
• Use of diagnostic test equipment and interpretation of technical manuals.
• Repair and replacement of mechanical components.
• Inventory management of spare parts.
