Mobile Vehicle Technician – Gloucester

About the role

The RAC’s Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is looking for a Mobile Vehicle Technician to deliver scheduled servicing and repairs at customers’ homes or workplaces in Gloucester. You will work from a fully equipped van, following a digital schedule that ensures predictable hours and no emergency call‑outs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine vehicle servicing and safety checks in line with RAC standards.
• Diagnose faults using advanced mobile diagnostic equipment.
• Carry out in‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop.
• Provide members with advice and recommendations based on inspections.
• Order parts and manage documentation through the RAC mobile service platform.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience, or 5 years’ experience as a vehicle technician/mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points.
• Ability to work independently and follow a scheduled list of jobs.

Required skills

• Vehicle diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Light vehicle maintenance and repair.

• Competitive base salary of £40,178 per year, with on‑target earnings up to £52,000.
• Guaranteed overtime option increasing base to £44,385.
