Modern Foreign Languages Teacher (Secondary)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Witham. The role involves delivering high‑quality language instruction to students aged 11‑16, with the possibility of teaching sixth‑form classes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in French, Spanish or another modern foreign language for Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Assess, monitor and report on student progress, ensuring strong academic outcomes.
• Create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages confidence in speaking and cultural appreciation.
• Collaborate with the Languages department and wider school staff on curriculum development and enrichment activities such as language clubs and cultural events.
• Contribute to extracurricular programmes, educational visits and school-wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• A degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related subject.
• Experience teaching French, Spanish or another modern foreign language at secondary level.
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for language learning.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of modern foreign language curricula.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for varied ability levels.
• Effective assessment and feedback techniques.
