MOJ/OIC File Handler

About the role

The MOJ/OIC File Handler works within the Volume Motor Litigation Unit, handling motor litigation cases up to £25k for key insurer clients. The role involves managing a caseload from service to resolution, supporting both defendant and claimant perspectives.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage a Part 8 caseload, ensuring court deadlines are met.
• Analyse evidence to develop initial quantum strategies.
• Conduct telephone negotiations with clients, defendants, insurers and third‑party solicitors.
• Draft court documents and meet all filing deadlines.
• Instruct and brief counsel, guiding defendants through the litigation process.
• Maintain accurate case, billing and management information in the relevant systems.
• Delegate tasks where appropriate and handle correspondence within SLA limits.
• Provide written updates to clients and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and SRA Code of Conduct.

Required profile

• Experience handling a personal caseload of litigated claims (defendant or claimant) is desirable.
• Good understanding of case law, litigation practice and court rules.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and meet strict deadlines.
• Law graduate or similar legal qualification is acceptable.
