Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement planning, monitoring and evaluation approaches and instruments at proposal stage (situation analysis, risk analysis, theory of change, logical framework, indicators, M&E plan, baselines, surveys).
  • Implement monitoring, evaluation and learning activities with the project team, and support adaptive management and learning from M&E data.
  • Contribute to project reporting against results frameworks and indicators, and to institutional reporting against IUCN indicators.
  • Facilitate quarterly risk analysis and help the project manager monitor and update project data in the IUCN Project Portal.
  • Manage independent project evaluations, including ToRs, review of deliverables and management responses.
  • Support project managers in embedding risk management and environmental and social safeguards, and in quality assurance against IUCN standards and donor requirements.
  • Provide technical support, capacity building and training on MEL to project teams and partners.

Required profile

  • At least 8 years of experience in MEL for international projects or programmes in conservation or development.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing complex MEL for multi-country, multi-partner or multi-sector projects, with substantial global experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental studies, conservation, natural resource management, planning, management, social sciences, economics, public policy or a related field.
  • Fluency in English; French and/or Spanish is desirable.

Required skills

  • Proficiency in MEL, results measurement and management in conservation or development.
  • Knowledge of environmental and social safeguards (a plus); experience with GEF or GCF projects and gender-sensitive MEL (assets).
  • Data management and analysis, with statistical skills (a plus).
  • Desirable: data management and project management tools such as Smartsheet, Kobo Toolbox, PowerBI and SQL.

The position is fixed-term, up to 12 months with possible renewal, at Grade P2. The minimum gross annual salary is GBP 44,073. Applications are made online through the IUCN HR system before the closing date of 22 November 2026.
