Mortgage Underwriter – Second Charge

About the role

As a Mortgage Underwriter – Second Charge at Evolution Money, you will manage a pipeline of loan applications from submission through to authorisation. You will manually underwrite each case, verify documentation, and work closely with customers, brokers and the Mortgage Advice team to ensure accurate and timely decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and manually underwrite second‑charge mortgage applications in line with regulatory standards and company policies.
• Examine supporting documentation, verify accuracy and request additional information when needed.
• Maintain up‑to‑date customer records and application details.
• Communicate clearly with customers and stakeholders, providing status updates and answering enquiries.
• Achieve minimum KPI targets and quality standards while handling a high volume of cases.

Required profile

• At least 12 months experience assessing or processing loan applications, preferably in second‑charge lending or motor finance.
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, target‑driven environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to question and challenge evidence.
• Experience identifying vulnerable customers and handling adverse credit indicators.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
