Motor Claims Handler – Fleet & Specialist Products

About the role

Acorn Insurance is seeking a Motor Claims Handler to join its Fleet and Specialist product team in Sevenoaks. You will manage a portfolio of motor claims from initial report through settlement, delivering a high level of service to fleet customers.

Key responsibilities

• Validate claims for indemnity and fraud, assess liability and communicate decisions.
• Contact claimants or representatives promptly to gather and update claim information.
• Perform accurate quantum assessments using available tools.
• Collaborate with in‑house motor engineers to reduce exposure on vehicle losses.
• Manage diaries, monitor case progress and ensure reserves align with company guidelines.
• Maintain performance against objectives and adhere to best practice.
• Coach and mentor less experienced handlers and undertake ad‑hoc tasks as required.

Required profile

• Strong communicator with persuasive relationship‑management skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational abilities and prioritisation.
• Experience handling significant personal injury and credit‑hire claims.
• Knowledge of the Pre‑Action Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules and hourly rate costs.
