Motor Recoveries Handler

About the role

We are seeking a Motor Recoveries Handler to join our sopp+sopp team and manage non‑fault motor claims from end‑to‑end. You will identify, quantify and recover costs incurred by customers after third‑party accidents, ensuring professional service and meeting Service Level Agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of assigned customer claims, managing them proactively while adhering to SLA parameters.
• Recover costs such as vehicle repairs, total loss, replacement vehicles, recovery and storage.
• Identify and pursue third parties, applying knowledge of case precedent and highway code to maximise recovery.
• Evaluate claims for quantum, liability and indemnity to determine the most effective recovery route.
• Negotiate with insurers and third‑party agents via phone and written communication to secure favourable settlements.
• Maintain accurate records of all recovery efforts in the sopp+sopp claims management system.
• Record expected and actual recovery amounts, considering liability and quantum.
• Use commercial awareness to assess litigation prospects and refer suitable cases to solicitors.
• Keep customers updated on claim progress and advocate for their interests.

Required profile

• Prior experience in debt recovery, claims management or related roles (advantageous).
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Familiarity with insurance policies, terminology and claim procedures.
• Knowledge of case law and standard practice surrounding ULR and liability (beneficial).
• Proficiency with data‑management and reporting software.
• Adaptability, initiative and attention to detail.
• High organisational skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Accountability for personal performance and contribution to team success.
