Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

About the role

This position offers an experienced Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer the chance to work within a busy manufacturing environment in Gravesend. You will join a dedicated engineering team, delivering both electrical and mechanical maintenance to keep plant running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on production and site equipment.
• Respond promptly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term solutions to recurring issues.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime and improve performance.
• Assist with spare‑parts identification and stock management.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives and capital projects.
• Mentor and assist colleagues as required.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures, including Lock Out/Tag Out and Permit to Work systems.
• Ensure work complies with company procedures and quality standards.

Required profile

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship combined with strong mechanical engineering skills.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good IT proficiency, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Flexible approach to training and development.
• Desirable: HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, experience with PLCs and machine control systems, knowledge of HACCP and GMP, experience with multi‑head weighing and filling equipment, background in high‑care manufacturing.
