Multimodal Freight Forwarder / Customs Clearance Operator

About the role

We are seeking a Multimodal Freight Forwarder and Customs Clearance Operator to join our Birmingham team. The role focuses on control‑tower coordination of ocean FCL shipments between the Czech Republic and the US, while supporting broader multimodal logistics and customs operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end door‑to‑door FCL shipments via overseas agents, including vessel bookings and origin collections with Czech partners.
• Review and verify shipping documentation such as bills of lading, invoices, packing lists and clearance documents.
• Provide shipment tracking, updates and resolve issues throughout the transport cycle.
• Handle job costing, supplier invoicing, customer billing and incidental costs.
• Maintain KPI reporting for key accounts and act as the central contact between shippers, consignees, agents and carriers.
• Support ocean freight pricing and procurement of spot rates.
• Prepare UK import/export customs declarations, including CFSP and Inward Processing, and ensure compliance.
• Produce Chamber of Commerce documents (COO, EUR1) and maintain accurate data in the Scope TMS.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ocean export freight forwarding and end‑to‑end shipment management.
• Hands‑on experience preparing import and export customs declarations.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities, with the capacity to work independently in a small team.
• Confidence using IT systems and logistics software.
• Desirable experience with cross‑trade shipments, CFSP/Inward Processing and US export regulations.
