Multiskilled Bricklayer – Responsive Repairs (3‑month contract)

About the role

Bury Council is seeking an experienced multiskilled Bricklayer to join its Responsive Repairs team on a three‑month contract, with the possibility of extension. The role involves delivering high‑quality bricklaying and related maintenance work across occupied and void residential properties, ensuring safety and tenant satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform bricklaying, blockwork and masonry repairs, including repointing brickwork, chimneys, boundary walls and structural elements.
• Repair and rebuild damaged walls, retaining walls, steps and other brick structures; undertake minor groundwork and concrete reinstatement.
• Carry out plaster patching, small rendering repairs, joinery tasks such as external door and frame adjustments, and replace air bricks to improve ventilation.
• Execute minor tiling, grouting, exterior painting, waste‑system unblocking, gutter and downpipe repairs, paving and gully‑top maintenance, and mould treatment.
• Use a tablet to update job orders, upload photos, record notes and order materials, while providing professional communication and leaving properties clean and safe.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Bricklayer with multiskilled repair capability, preferably in social housing or property maintenance.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Competence with digital job management tools (tablet) and basic IT literacy.
• Full UK driving licence (maximum 3 penalty points) and own battery‑powered tools.
• Strong understanding of health and safety, RAMS, asbestos awareness and manual handling procedures.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
