Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a long‑established food manufacturing business in Cambridge. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving a range of electro‑mechanical equipment that processes rice and grains, ensuring reliable production operations.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and condition‑based maintenance on electro‑mechanical plant.
• Respond to reactive breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete efficient repairs.
• Manufacture and repair components using workshop machinery such as lathes, milling machines and welding equipment.
• Support continuous‑improvement projects by working closely with production teams.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records in a CMMS system.
• Coordinate with on‑site contractors when required.
• Participate in ongoing training to keep technical knowledge up to date.

Required profile

• Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Strong electro‑mechanical maintenance background.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings.
• Experience with milling equipment, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Proactive approach to fault finding, problem solving and continuous improvement.
