Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Unit Maintenance Technician)

About the role

Müller Yogurt & Desserts, the UK's leading yogurt manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled Unit Maintenance Technician to join its Engineering team at the Telford site. This role offers an experienced Multi‑Skilled Engineer the chance to work in a fast‑paced, highly automated manufacturing environment, supporting production through both planned and reactive maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and support production performance.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities using the CMMS system.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical and automation faults.
• Maintain pumps, valves, filling equipment, process systems and fast‑moving production machinery.
• Ensure all equipment is safe and fully operational before returning it to service.
• Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with Production and Operational teams to achieve site performance targets.
• Maintain engineering standards that support safety, quality and OEE performance.

Required profile

• Time‑served engineering apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Experience working within a multi‑skilled maintenance environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding skills.
• Experience maintaining machinery in manufacturing, production, process or FMCG settings.
• Knowledge of PLC‑controlled equipment and automated production lines.
• Experience of preventative maintenance systems and planned maintenance activities.
• Strong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Excellent communication and team‑working skills.
