Multi‑Skilled Operative (Responsive Repairs)

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Multi‑Skilled Operative to deliver responsive repairs and maintenance for homes in Watford. The role combines a core trade expertise with the ability to carry out a range of additional trades, supporting our mission to improve communities.

Key responsibilities

• Identify cost‑effective solutions and ensure repairs are completed to a high standard.
• Liaise with the team to organise jobs and maximise working time.
• Follow Chime Housing policies and safe‑working procedures in customers’ homes and public areas.
• Fault‑find, diagnose and arrange materials for each task.
• Use an electronic personal digital assistant to receive, record and update work orders.
• Participate in an out‑of‑hours call‑out rota as required.

Required profile

• Specialist competence in one core trade – Plumbing, Carpentry or Plastering – and high competence in a second trade.
• Ability to perform at least two additional trades such as Bricklaying, Painting & Decorating or Groundwork/Fencing.
• City & Guilds qualification or equivalent in a relevant trade.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and hold a full clean driving licence.
• Willingness to maintain a satisfactory basic DBS check.
