Multiskilled Shift Engineer (Electrical bias)

About the role

Northwood is seeking a Multiskilled Shift Engineer with an electrical focus to join its fast‑paced manufacturing site in Ellesmere Port. The role follows a continental 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern (6 am‑6 pm) with an initial induction on days. You will help sustain and improve equipment reliability, develop maintenance programmes and support the commissioning of new production lines.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Create, monitor and continuously improve preventive maintenance (PPM) programmes.
• Support commissioning of new lines and develop yearly maintenance plans.
• Cross‑skill machine operators on changeovers, basic line maintenance, clean‑downs and simple fault rectification.
• Collaborate with mechanical teams when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a multiskilled or electrically‑biased maintenance engineer.
• Willingness to assist with mechanical tasks on occasion.
• Flexibility to work the shift pattern and overtime.
• Background in FMCG or converting environments.
• Level 3+ electrical qualification (ideally via an apprenticeship).

• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Interpretation of electrical schematics.
• Preventive maintenance planning.
• Level 3 electrical qualification.
• Machine troubleshooting and basic line maintenance.
