Music Teacher – Maternity Cover (Key Stage 3‑4)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Music Teacher to provide maternity cover in a high‑achieving secondary school in Trafford. The role is full‑time and will involve teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils, helping them develop performance, composition and listening skills.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging music lessons for KS3 and KS4, covering performance, composition and listening.
• Assess, monitor and report on student progress in line with the curriculum and GCSE requirements.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and achievement.
• Support extracurricular music activities, performances and enrichment opportunities.
• Undertake pastoral duties, including form‑tutor responsibilities and wider teacher duties.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or an equivalent recognised secondary teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching music in a UK secondary school setting.
• Ability to teach confidently across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE Music.
• Strong classroom management and the capacity to engage learners of all abilities.
• Commitment to high‑quality teaching, assessment and student wellbeing.

Required skills

• Delivery of the secondary music curriculum (Key Stage 3‑4).
• Assessment and progress tracking for GCSE music.
