Music Teacher – Secondary School (East London)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a qualified Music Teacher to join a mainstream secondary school in Newham, East London, starting in September. The role is full‑time and will involve delivering the music curriculum across Key Stages 3 to 5 in a supportive, high‑energy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess music lessons for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students.
• Prepare students for examinations, performances and external assessments.
• Contribute to the development of the music department’s scheme of work and resources.
• Collaborate with colleagues on cross‑curricular projects and extra‑curricular ensembles.
• Maintain accurate records, mark assignments and provide constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• A degree in music or a closely related subject.
• Experience teaching the UK music curriculum, preferably at secondary level.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and a recent enhanced DBS.
• References covering the last two years of teaching.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of music theory, composition and performance.
• Ability to engage and motivate students across a wide age range.
