Music Teacher – Secondary School (Southwark)

About the role
A vibrant and inclusive school in Southwark is seeking a passionate Music Teacher to join its successful department. You will deliver engaging lessons, inspire a love of music, and help students develop performance, composition and analytical skills.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality music lessons across relevant key stages.
- Encourage students to develop practical, theoretical and creative musical abilities.
- Monitor, assess and report on student progress.
- Lead extracurricular music activities such as choirs, ensembles, concerts and school productions.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes achievement and participation.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the wider school community.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching music within a secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for music education.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Required skills
What we offer
- Competitive salary (£40,000‑£63,000 per year).
- Full‑time, permanent contract.
- School hours, Monday to Friday.
