National Account Manager – Retail & Grocery

About the role

As a National Account Manager within 3M’s Consumer Business Group, you will own a portfolio of key national retail and grocery customers across the UK. You will drive growth for leading 3M brands such as Command™, Post‑it®, Meguiar’s™, Scotch® and Scotch‑Brite™ by shaping partnership plans and delivering profitable results.

Key responsibilities

• Build, manage and grow strategic relationships with national customers, engaging stakeholders at all levels.
• Take full P&L responsibility for your account base and lead commercial negotiations.
• Create and deliver partnership plans that support growth, collaboration and efficient execution.
• Lead channel planning and align customer initiatives with 3M’s portfolio strategy and shopper programmes.
• Identify and enter new categories, launching new product introductions successfully.
• Partner with internal teams on forecasting, pricing, incentives, trade activation and accounts receivable.
• Use category management, negotiation and business‑development skills to convert growth opportunities.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with local, regional and central teams to achieve shared business goals.

Required profile

• Proven national account management experience in grocery, discounter or high‑street retail within a multi‑branded FMCG environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build and grow strategic customer relationships and joint business plans.
• Strong track record of delivering profitable account growth.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
• Customer‑focused mindset with a business‑development approach to identify and act on growth opportunities.
