National Fleet Transport Manager

About the role

The National Fleet Transport Manager will lead the efficiency, safety and cost‑effectiveness of the company’s vehicle operations across the West Midlands distribution network. You will ensure every vehicle is road‑ready, journeys are compliant and each pound spent delivers maximum value.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee procurement, leasing and disposal of LCV, LGV and van fleets across multiple sites.
• Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules in line with safety and environmental regulations.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, maintenance providers and leasing companies.
• Monitor fleet performance using telematics and data analytics to reduce downtime, fuel consumption and operating costs.
• Implement driver training programmes to promote safety, efficiency and legislative compliance.
• Maintain accurate records for inspections, repairs, insurance and licensing.
• Lead initiatives to transition the fleet towards greener, more sustainable solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fleet management or transport operations.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, compliance requirements and transport legislation.
• Focus on health & safety as a key benchmark of success.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management abilities.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance data and drive improvements.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused and capable of leading and inspiring a team.
